PACIFIC PALISADES, CALIFORNIA — With the onset of Super Tuesday, the Press has started reporting on Barack Obama’s ability to mobilize new, youth and Independent voters, the other candidates’ advantages among established, older voters, and Hillary Clinton’s advantage among Hispanic and female voters. This week’s issue of TIME Magazine reports that Obama’s campaign tactics are more effective in states with forward-thinking election law. Iowa, New Hampshire, and Nevada have Same-Day Registration. Florida has early voting, but the DNC has stripped the Sunshine State’s democrats of their delegates, Republicans were able to keep half of theirs. (more…)

Last week I visited Larimer County, CO Clerk & Recorder Scott Doyle to talk about Vote Centers. Vote Centers have been credited with the 94% voter turnout in Larimer county in the 2004 presidential election. What’s the deal? Watch for more info. (more…) |

Good morning from Denver. We had a successful trip to Fort Collins, Colorado yesterday. In next Tuesday’s episode of the vlog we’ll look at how County Clerk & Recorder Scott Doyle has worked to increase voter turnout there, and how his Vote Center model does (and doesn’t) transfer effectively to other locales. It’s early. 5:43AM in California. We’re headed to Larimer County, Colorado where in 2004 147,112 out of 157,903 people voted. Unreal, right? We’re going to meet up with County Clerk Scott Doyle and see what the deal is! After that we’re on to Iowa where we’ll be brining the Why Tuesday? Candidate Challenge to the presidential candidates. I’m looking forward to seeing some Larimer blue sky, pictured left. The smoke from the wildfires here has filled the horizon for days. (more…)
