Today at the Netroots Nation conference in Austin, Texas, I spoke with Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi, former Vice President Al Gore, and U.S. Representative Lloyd Doggett about the proposal in Congress to move Election Day to Saturday and Sunday. Check out the video.

Pelosi: “I think it’s a great idea.”

Gore: “Good idea, sounds like.”

Last week we spent time with U.S. Representative Steve Israel (D-NY), who introduced the Weekend Voting Act into the House. Senator Herb Kohl (D-WI) introduced the bill into the Senate in February.

Don’t know why we vote on Tuesday? Click here.

Weekend voting would be great and it either be Saturday and Sunday or just Saturday to avoid any ridiculous objections. By the way, what objections have been voiced, if any, to having elections on Saturday or Saturday and Sunday? I am very curious if there are any legitimate concerns. Thanks.

Why Tuesday? is a non-partisan, nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization founded in 2005 to find solutions to increase voter turnout and participation in elections.
